A picture of John Strode (Josh Hartnett), can be seen on the wall above Laurie’s bed in the sanitarium.
Jamie Lee wanted to play the part of Laurie Strode differently. She wanted to take it to a much darker place and show how the effects of killing the wrong person had taken its toll on Laurie.
Director Rick Rosenthal also directed the first Halloween sequel in 1981 Halloween II (1981), he is also married to Nancy Stevens, the actress that played Marion in the earlier Halloween films.
The premise for Michael returning for this film was agreed to by everyone involved with the film prior to shooting H20. Curtis insisted that there could be no hints that it wasn’t Michael being killed at the end and Laurie would believe that she killed him.
Director Rick Rosenthal played the Haddonfield University professor Mixter at the beginning of the film. Mixter was also the name of the doctor from Halloween II. Which Rosenthal also directed.
There was an alternative opening shot on super 8 film of a Myers family barbecue. The song Johnny Angel was playing as everyone was having fun except for Michael. He refused to be filmed until the end when he turns towards the camera as it zooms in on his eyes. The sentiment was that it humanized Myers and was cut.
All the tree branches and leaves Jamie Lee fell through from the rooftop were all created digitally.
The part of Aron was cut before filming started, but no one told the casting department. However, they agreed to audition everyone that showed up expecting to read for it. After watching Haig Sutherland deliver his lines they agreed to put his role back in the film.
Bianca (Sara Moyer) cannot scream. All off her screams were overdubbed.
The Myers House was built in a warehouse sound stage. All the trees and houses were added digitally.
There was a scene written with Bianca (Sara) being followed by Myers on her way to the audition but was scrapped.
There was a scene cut with Myers stealing the red car that was towed away from the Myers House as well as Michael pulling up in front of the his house.
Even though the Myers house was built to scale on a sound stage, the warehouse ceilings weren’t high enough for a full-sized second floor. That was built separately on a different set.
In the scene where Bill is attacked by Michael through the mirror and stab in the head, a watermelon with a wig on it was used for Bill’s head.
