Halloween was this star’s first film. Jamie Lee Curtis was a virtual unknown besides for her famous mother and father. Her mother being the famed star of Psycho – Janet Leigh. Jamie Lee’s father, of course, was Hollywood legend Tony Curtis. This didn’t secure her getting the job as the quiet teen, Laurie Strode. She had to earn the role like everyone else, and even feared getting fired after her first week of filming. As history tells us, she not only finished the movie, but got a career boost from it.
She kept in the Horror genre with such movies as Terror Train and Prom Night. But Jamie Lee didn’t want to get stuck in the Horror genre as a stereo-typical ‘Scream Queen’. In 1983, she was given this chance. Trading Places put Jamie Lee Curtis in the the company of funny men Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd. It was here that Jamie Lee Curtis made her mark as more than just a “Horror Actress” and it also marked the first time she bared all on the silver screen.
Since then, Jamie Lee has acted alongside such wonderful actors as John Travolta (Perfect), Mel Gibson (Forever Young) , John Cleese, Kevin Kline & Michael Palin (A Fish Called Wanda) and Arnold Schwarzenegger (True Lies). In 1998, She returned to the role that helped launch career (Laurie Strode) in Halloween H20 and its sequel in 2001, Halloween Resurrection. She also starred in a sci-fi thriller called VIRUS and recently starred in Scream Queens on Fox. She has truly made her mark in Hollywood and no longer lives in the shadow of her parents.
