A novelization of the film was published in 1982 by science-fiction writer Dennis Etchison under the pseudonym Jack Martin. The book became a best-seller and was even reissued two years after the film’s release, in 1984.
Harry Grimbridge noted the location of his shop as Sierra Madre. The bar that Ellie finds Challis in and the shop with the tv’s in the window were located there in real life.
The voice of the telephone operator and the Santa Mira curfew announcement over the loudspeaker is Halloween & Halloween II star Jamie Lee Curtis.
The song “London Bridges” was chosen as the melody for the “Silver Shamrock” jingle simply because it was available in the public domain.
Tom Atkins and Garn Stephens (Marge Guttman) were actually husband and wife at the time of filming.
The voice of the announcer in the Silver Shamrock commercials and radio spots is that of the film’s writer/director Tommy Lee Wallace. Wallace was also the voice during the ‘horror-thon’ for Halloween and Halloween II.
When Challis fills in the register at the motel office, he scans the list of names for evidence of Ellie’s father’s stay. All of the other names on the list are the names of the crew.
The plaza where Challis called his ex-wife on the pay phone to was also featured in Halloween II when Michael Myers bumps into the boom box boy.
Nancy Kyes, Dr. Challis’ ex-wife, also played Annie Brackett in original Halloween (1978) and made a cameo appearance in Halloween II (1981).
Dick Warlock, (Assassin) was also the stunt coordinator and played Michael Myers in Halloween II.
