Josh Hartnett was virtually unknown to Hollywood when he made his film debut as Jamie Lee Curtis’ son in Halloween H20. He only had one credit to his name, Michael Fitzgerald in Cracker: Mind Over Murder on ABC. But that was about to change.
Josh had just finished reading for the role of Zeke Tyler in Dimension Films ‘The Faculty’, when the Weinstein’s had contacted his agent to read for the another film they were making, Halloween H20. He tested very well against Curtis and ended up getting both parts and shot both films simultaneously.
Like many other Halloween alumni, Josh went on to become a major star in Hollywood appearing in hit films such as Pearl Harbor w/ Ben Affleck & Kate Beckinsale, Black Hawk Down w/ Ewan McGregor, 40 Days and 40 Nights and Hollywood Homicide w/ Harrison Ford.
Josh took a break from acting telling Details magazine “I was on the cover of every magazine. I couldn’t really go anywhere. I didn’t feel comfortable in my own skin. I was alone. I didn’t trust anyone.” He went on to tell Time Magazine, “It was kind of like being in a relationship with Hollywood, and it just didn’t feel like we weren’t in the same place at the same time,” Hartnett says. “I wanted something that they didn’t want to give me. So I took a break from my relationship.”
Since coming back, Josh has made several independent films and tried his hand at TV with the Showtime hit “Penny Dreadful”. Josh is still very much active in Hollywood with several films in production or scheduled to be released.
