Q. My question to you is are you a fan of previous Halloween films?
Brea Grant: Until I booked this Halloween, I had only seen the John Carpenter version as a kid and it scared the crap out of me. I watched it again recently and it reminded me of how scary Michael Myers was. He didn’t even have to do that much – just the way he lurked near wherever Laurie was with that mask on. That image still stays with me when I’m somewhere by myself. I just hope Michael Myers isn’t standing all alone in a mask watching me eat cereal for breakfast or playing on my computer…or while doing interviews…. .

Q. How does it feel to be involved in the making of a Michael Myers movie?
Brea Grant: I am really excited to be involved because Halloween is such a legacy. Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, and Freddy Krueger were a big part of my childhood. I think about 90% of my nightmares are based on these three characters. I only hope I can contribute to a new generation of nightmares.

Q. Can you describe your character in a few lines?
Brea Grant: Mya Rockwell is a small-town punk rock girl who works with Laurie at a coffee shop. Although she’s been kind of a screw up most of her life, by the time you guys meet her, she is actually getting her life together and is trying to help Laurie get hers together as well.

Q. Now that you’re part of the horror world, will you consider gracing us with your presence at any upcoming horror conventions?
Brea Grant: Possibly. I actually wasn’t aware there were horror conventions. Wow – so if I play my cards right, I could pretty much be at a sci-fi, horror or comic convention every day for the rest of my life.

Q. How does playing a newly introduced character to the Halloween franchise compare to playing your re-occurring characters on Heroes and are you nervous about meeting Michael Myers face-to-face?
Brea Grant: It’s always different to play a new role. I played Daphne for a while on Heroes and got used to everything Daphne did or said. I would know she would react before I read it in the script. Mya is totally new, although she definitely has some things in common with Daphne. They’re both funny and sarcastic and have a little bit of my own personality in them.
But just like Heroes, I worry when creating a character for such a well-known entity. I was really worried everyone would think I was ruining Heroes with my new character and I worry the same with Mya – like maybe she won’t be Halloween-style enough.
I wasn’t too worried about meeting Michael Myers because Tyler, who plays Michael, is an actor and I was pretty sure he’d be nice. And he was.
